Take a photo in the app or import one from your library, pick a watermark template, adjust which readings appear, then use the share sheet to save it to your photo library or send it on. Everything is rendered on your device — nothing is uploaded anywhere.
This is normal, and all of them can be right at once. Satellite altitude is the least accurate part of a GPS fix and can easily be off by tens of meters. A barometric reading is smoother and better at showing changes, but it drifts with the weather, since a passing pressure system shifts the reading without you moving at all. Map apps usually show terrain elevation from a database — the height of the ground, not the height of your phone. The dial screen shows an accuracy figure alongside the reading so you can judge how much to trust it (the watermark prints the altitude on its own, without that figure); give the fix a moment to settle under open sky, away from buildings and dense tree cover. If you know the correct value, you can enter it by hand — see the next question.
Yes, in the photo editor. When you have a trusted reference such as a trailhead sign or a survey marker, type the altitude in and the watermark will use your value instead of the sensor reading. Two things to expect: the correction applies to the photo you are editing at that moment, and it is not carried over — open a different photo and you will need to enter it again. The dial screen always shows the live sensor reading and has no manual override.
Place names come from Apple's system geocoding service, which needs a network connection. Offline, deep in the backcountry, or on airplane mode, the coordinates still appear but the name cannot be looked up. Reconnect and take the photo again, or leave the field out of the layout.
The pressure reading requires a barometer, and not every iPhone or iPad has one — older and entry-level models often don't. On those devices the pressure gauge is unavailable and altitude comes from GPS alone. Also make sure Motion & Fitness access is allowed in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security. Note that pressure and heading are dial-only readings; the watermark carries altitude, coordinates, place name, and time.
Yes, with one thing to plan around. When you import an existing photo, the editor reads the location stored in the photo's own EXIF data, so old shots can still be watermarked with where they were taken. A photo you shoot right now has no such data, so with location off there is no altitude to print and you will have to type one in by hand before the watermark can be produced. The live dial needs current location too, and will show a prompt explaining how to turn it on. You can change your mind anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → AltiCam.
Two ways. Watch one rewarded video ad and every premium template unlocks for 24 hours; you can do this again as often as you like, at no cost. Or subscribe to AltiCam Pro at $9.99 per year to keep all 14 premium templates for as long as the subscription is active, with no ads and no AltiCam badge on the photos you export. There is no free trial on the subscription. Worth noting: the rewarded unlock gives you the templates, but exported photos still carry the small AltiCam badge — only Pro removes it.
Tap Restore Purchase while signed in with the Apple ID you bought it with. The button sits on the app's Settings → Subscription screen, and also on the subscription page. If that does not help, email us your Apple order ID (found in your App Store purchase history) and we will sort it out.
Open iOS Settings → tap your Apple ID at the top → Subscriptions → select AltiCam → Cancel Subscription.
After canceling, you keep Pro access until the end of the current billing period. Refund requests go to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Personalized advertising is controlled by the iOS tracking prompt; change it in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, the Settings page also has a Privacy Options entry that reopens the consent form so you can revise your decision.
Photos never leave your device unless you share them yourself — we run no servers and have nothing to upload to. The one exception worth knowing about is place names: converting coordinates into a readable name uses Apple's system geocoding service, so those coordinates go to Apple.
